Why we built this

Every committee inherits a broken Wix login nobody remembers.

Every September, a fresh committee takes over and discovers they don't have the Wix password, can't find the Mailchimp, and the old Instagram is locked to someone's personal phone. We made the thing that should have always existed.

Wait, actually free?

Yes. No fund, no grant, no foundation. It's a side project run by a few alumni who pay the hosting out of pocket. Costs at this scale are small — we're not going to start charging committees.

Who's behind it?

JSoc alumni who can code, building the thing we wished existed when we were on committee. Independent project — not affiliated with UJS, J-Soc UK, or any university.

What if we already have a site?

Keep it. We can point youruni.jsoc.co.uk at your existing site, or import your content. Your call.

Can we use our own domain?

Yes. If your JSoc owns e.g. bristoljsoc.com we'll host it for free alongside the subdomain.

Who owns the data?

Your JSoc. Full CSV/JSON export anytime. Your JSoc is the data controller; we're the processor.

Security and antisemitism online?

CST-aligned defaults: no addresses without consent, no public member lists, optional sign-in walls for sensitive events. Abuse reports go to a real human within 24h.

What about committee handover?

One-click. Outgoing President triggers it, incoming committee verifies via SU email, logins rotate automatically. End of the "who has the Wix password?" era.

What if you stop running it?

You'll get 6 months' notice and a full export of your site, content, members and events. You can take everything and go.
